The Feldenkrais Method

On the way to a better body awareness
An approach based on neurology and developmental psychology and physiology.

Get to know the Feldenkrais method

The Feldenkrais Method was developed as a learning approach based on the functional capabilities of the body.
It is founded on neurology, developmental physiology, and developmental psychology.
As infants, we have already explored and utilized these elements, mostly unconsciously.
They are inherent in us, not always familiar, but retrievable.

„Moving back from an extreme position to neutral creates a feeling of security and serenity within us, the feeling of coming home again.“

~ Yochanan Rywerant,
Friend and companion of Moshé Feldenkrais

In individual work (FI – Functional Integration), the Feldenkrais teacher uses targeted manual impulses and guidance to introduce new movement possibilities in order to change and expand the existing range of movement.

In group work (ATM – Awareness Through Movement), these changes are facilitated through verbal guidance.

In the process, ingrained movement patterns and behaviors are discovered, modified, and expanded.

This makes clients more flexible, supple, and self-aware. They move and behave in a more differentiated way, organize themselves more effectively, experience less stress, and thus become more capable of taking action.

This development leads to a better body awareness and opens the way to one’s own resources.

„ …to turn the impossible into possible and the possible into lightness and elegance“.

~ Moshé Feldenkrais
